Training

If you are 12 or older, there will be a Small-Sided Course (old Level 5) course on Friday Oct. 21/2011.  Registration link here. If you are 14 or older, and want to take the Entry ref. (old Level 4 and 3), click here  https://secure.millsoft.ca/squamishsoccer/wvcontent/event_reg1.asp?event_id=9&appid=sysa, to express interest in a Squamish located Entry level course in the Winter/Spring 2011/12. General info on becoming a referee: BC Soccer  This page explains the new refereeing classisfication system. Before the game, you should have a whistle, pencil, watch, and scorecard(s).  It's useful to have a watch with a timer, to time the halves.  Blank scorecards are in the box on the North side of the concession.

Game Procedures

Introduce yourself to the 2 coaches before game start time.  It's suggested that you be at the field 10 mins. before game time.  Write down the team numbers and divison (e.g. U11 boys team 2 vs. 5).  Start all games on time.  If a game starts late then the playing time is shortened to allow the following game to start on time.  However, if there is no following game then play the regular game length.

At the end of the game, one of the coaches needs to  sign your scorecard.  Be sure to hand it in to the box at the end of the concession completed - Jose uses these cards to calculate your pay at the end of each half-season.  You will be paid by cheque around the end of November, and then in April, after the end of each half season.  Pay rates are below.

Check this site for other information during the season and THANK YOU for refereeing!

Referee Refreshers (past)

All referees are asked to attend an upcoming referee course. The purpose is to review reffing calls, how to effectively deal with coaches, parents, and players, and to answer any refereeing questions that you may have based on your experiences last year.  If the soccer schedules are available by that time, you will also have a chance to sign up for some games.  House league starts on Sat. Sept. 11th.

You have a choice of two session times, both from 6-8 pm at the Jr. Lounge at Brennan Park:
Wed. Sept. 1 or Wed. Sept. 8. 6-8 pm Jr. Lounge
Dinner (Subway) and juice/water will be provided.  You should wear your soccer equipment, and bring your whistle.  Please bring a pencil and paper for notes. Please reply and let Jose or Diana know which session you will be attending to plan for the meal, etc.
