Germ Free Half Time Snack

Welcome to Squamish Youth Soccer >>

In a further effort to help stop the spread of colds and the flu, the SYSA requests that all teams stop, or use the following suggestions in regards to the eating and sharing of oranges at half time.  We appreciate that this half time treat is something that the players look forward to and really enjoy.  However, it is felt that the eating and sharing of the oranges and all those little hands reaching into a "community" bowl is a germ fest!  Therefore, if teams would like to continue to have a half-time snack, here are some suggestions to help keep this tradition as germ free as possible:

  • a mandarin orange each (when available:)
  • small juice boxes instead of oranges
  • give hand wipes and/or a dab of hand sanitizer to each player before they eat
  • have the parent in charge of oranges for the week wear a plastic glove or use tongs to hand out oranges
  • have a container for players to put the peels in themselves, so no one else has to pick them up
  • have players wipe their hands again, once they are finished their snack

The Concession will be stocking free disposable gloves for parents to use to hand out team oranges. Also they have stocked orange juice boxes that will be selling for .50 each.

Thank you to everyone for their support.
